The Government sought to bring women’s pension in line with men, bringing women’s retirement age up to 68 but it is the way in which Government introduced these changes. Women were not informed about the changes in a timely way with many only discovering they could not collect their pension when they had already made arrangements to retire. for some women they have been working 50 years paying into a pension only to be told they must work another 3 years resulting in some women losing as much as £40 000.
We had a very lively discussion on this with lots of ideas as to how we can highlight the campaign. The WASPI campaign in England is very vocal, and we are determined to spread the campaign here. We do have support from our local MP’s and we need to keep the pressure on.
